Model Stages in the development of the child according to Piaget

Jean Piaget was a Swiss psychologist who studied the cognitive psychological development of children.

Piaget formulated four different stages in the development of the child. Below is a brief overview of the phases. A 'normal' development does not exist. The ages thus, only give an indication of when certain developments.

  • Sensorimotor stage, 0-2 years:
    • Development of functioning at body level, touch, feel, taste.
    • Develop motor skills
    • Development of memory
    • Object Permanence is not yet developed. For the child objects do not exist that are not in his face field.
  • Preoperational phase, 2-6 years:
    • Development of speech, the larynx drops.
    • Refinement of motor skills.
    • Development of the ego, egocentrism. The child learns that a private person.
    • Animism. Lifeless objects is given a soul.
  • Concrete operational stage, 6-11 years:
    • Development can comparing the length and quantity
    • Developing the ability to organize, count and count.
    • Development of figurative thinking
  • Formal operational stage, age 11 and older:
    • Development of spatial thinking
    • Development of abstract thinking
    • Learning to think logically and draw conclusions.

"Christians have a problem with sex '(video)

Culture Theologian Frank Bosman was a guest in the program 5op2 to talk about sexuality. Bosman: "Why Sex is often a taboo in many religions? Because it has everything to do with the beginning of human life, we are all of the product. The ideal of not-for-sex marriage must therefore be seen in this light: Sex is so special that you can not just give to someone in the bushes behind the disco. That's the positive story of the church. The Christian tradition is different here than in the Jewish or Muslim. Christian theology has been given a slap of the gnosis, while the Jewish Talmud and the Islamic Hadith just have all kinds of rules that make sex within marriage exciting. "

"God is the foundation of a good relationship"

"The relationships here on earth are a reflection of the relationship that God wants us to go, in good or bad terms." That says Els van der Good, relationship therapist and Christian.

Els: "The funny thing is that just when relationships go wrong, it is a sign of God's way of relationships. Look at the people who have a broken heart. How many people are not deceived by their partner or disappointed in their partner. Look at the people who are in love, without mutual. Or perhaps even worse: the people who had a relationship, but where their partner suddenly broke off because it did not work. I am so very widely spoken. They just do not understand why their beloved terminated the relationship and continue with lots of questions. In this respect we must look to the Lord Jesus. How often is his heart not broken? How often has he not arid our rejection and how often he is not deceived us? This is a first step towards a good relationship. "
Van der Good believes that faith in God is the foundation of a good relationship: "What I just sketch is unfortunately an all too frequent image of relationships. People are more broken and disappointed relationships than they are happy. While God is with relationships is perhaps the greatest gift possible to man it. The way Jesus deals with us, is the way to keep a relationship well. It's all about forgiveness and love. Not too fast giving up a relationship because we are different or because we trust the other is wounded us, but just forgive and trust. If there is someone who has reason not to trust us, it is God. How often have we not disappointed him? And yet He loves us! Let's take an example in our relationships!. "

Abortion is one of the risk factors for breast cancer

Breast cancer is a very severe illness, sometimes with death. We all have someone in our neighborhood who has breast cancer and we know how sad and difficult that is. And therefore it is good that so much research is done into the causes and prevention of breast cancer.

Especially in America, much research has taken place, and they have discover a relationship between breast cancer and abortion.

Several studies now show that an (induced) abortion is a risk factor for getting breast cancer. An abortion of a first pregnancy, the risk is even greater. Women who are considering an abortion must be informed accordingly. They are entitled to all information. The pro-abortion movement wants nothing want nothing to do with it.

 Teen Club

Thinking about Christian youth

You hear it in many churches, there is a lack of youth leaders.
Many young people are busy with work and study.
Others see the youth at this time "no longer sit. The time of massive youth clubs with a chairman, a secretary, a solid Bible study and minutes is over. But how can it be otherwise?

Do you have a youth leader, then you have a lot of things you should consider. Not everyone working with young people is a real youth leader. Leidershap is "influence", nothing less and nothing more. Can you influence others, then you are a leader. Can you influence the youth, you may start as a youth leader. However, you have to develop your leadership to become a great leader. The Christian youth should be led in the fear of the Lord, taking into account "Remember your Creator in adolescence, before the evil days come." It is important to know which things you must consider when managing and educating youth. Youth is the "university" of life.

Stressed or relaxed?
The programs of a teen club must show a multicolored image. The time of one response and approach to the Christian youth is over.
This time calls for 'customized care. But how do you do that? You have so little time, and should you even think of anything creative? For a teen / youth group to lead you much free time.
But when is that too much? The message: a relaxed atmosphere can not cannot be created without a relax leader. In short: do not take too much on your fork!

In Action                                                                                                                                                                             Take advantage of new opportunities, such as 'multimedia'. There are also creative ideas that are  expecting an active participation of the participants . You do not have to (continue to) sit.               A selection of these topics:

- Sport as a means of communication for the faith.

- Creative life planning: how do I develop my talents?

- From hoax to discipleship: about creative teaching methods.

- I will dance: a dance learning for use in the municipality.

- Play a different role but be yourself! About creative drama.

- Hear, see, experience: with creative methods to teenagers in conversation.

A number of contributions is about the development of young people. Puberty and adolescence are turbulent life stages. You must peel off your parents, your parents must come off of you. "What happens to teenagers between 11 and 18 years, physically, mentally, socially, emotionally and spiritually?

Young people live in their own culture, if you are 25 years old you're already old in their eyes. What does youth look like? Is 'the' youth culture really? If you are youth leader you will get in touch with young people. But how far can you go in? Do you-so to speak- a joint take up smoking? How can you get right in the youth world stand without being in conflict with your own beliefs? In many congregations are young people who 'experiment' with alcohol and drugs. Relationships are extremely important for teenagers.
How do you talk about 'dating an unbeliever, "about" married or living together'? (Rob Baardse)

It is not all cake and egg in the teenage group. How do you deal with teenagers who have problems? When do you know if your help is needed, without panicking? How do you involve silent teenagers in the program? "For them, a different approach. In the process we will see how to recognize quiet talent  and confirm them." There are also kids in the teenage club who are bullied. How are you going to deal with as a youth leader?

To begin, the interest of the audience must be stirred up.

1. Make a plan about what you want to achieve with the teen club. What is the purpose?

2. Who is your audience? What is their interest?

3. How soon do you want to reach the goal? Make a timetable.

4. What resources do you use to achieve your goal. What are your strategies?

5. Do you have the right people to do the job? Otherwise, how can they be trained?

6. What assessment method will you use?

Involve the youth in preparing the plan. Let them have a say in drawing up the targets.
